What Impact Gate does#

Impact Gate connects selected GitHub repositories into an engineering workspace. It discovers API endpoints from OpenAPI documents, finds supported HTTP client references in consumer code, and publishes an advisory report when a pull request changes a contract.

The workflow#

1. 1

   Connect an organization

   Sign in, authorize your GitHub identity, and connect an installation you administer.

2. 2

   Choose providers and consumers

   Select repositories containing API contracts and the applications that call those APIs. Indexing reads their default branches.

3. 3

   Open a pull request

   Impact Gate compares supported contracts at the PR's base and head commits, then inspects selected, indexed consumers.

4. 4

   Review the evidence

   Read the GitHub check and report, follow the source references, and use dashboard findings to plan changes with the affected owners.
